It’s finally here, my absolute favorite time of the year!
I love all things autumn, from the colorful leaves to the crisp air to the delicious food. And this fall is made even sweeter by the fact that Greg and I are getting married soon! There’s so much to celebrate, and so many sweet memories to share.
And there’s also a sweet fall dessert to share, too! Inspired by autumn’s caramel apples (and apple picking!), I’ve whipped together an easy recipe that will impress just about everyone. Just don’t tell them it only requires four ingredients and you’re literally throwing everything together!
To make my Caramel Apple Dump Cake, you’ll need:
1 box yellow cake mix
20 ounce can apple pie filling
1/2 jar Smuckers’ salted caramel topping
2 sticks unsalted butter
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Spray your 8 x 11 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Then dump the can of apple pie filling into it, using a spoon to spread it out evenly.
Then evenly pour the caramel topping over the apples, again using a spoon if needed to make sure it’s more or less even.
Whatever you do, don’t worry about perfection! This recipe is meant to be as easy as… well… pie.
Then spread the cake mix on top, again using a spoon to even it out as needed.
Then melt your two sticks of butter in a glass measuring cup in the microwave. You can actually melt the butter however you’d like, however this is the easiest way to do it since you can pour it right from the measuring cup and not dirty another pan.
Pour the melted butter over the cake mix. You can tilt the pan as needed to spread out the butter. And if the cake mix isn’t entirely covered, don’t worry, that’s ok too!
Place the pan in the oven and cook for 40 minutes. When you’re done, the cake should resemble a cobbler. Scoop it out and serve warm, with your favorite fall accessories.
And for an added treat, you can top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!
Isn’t autumn just the sweetest?
