The day after my now Sister-in-Law Kate’s Chicago Bridal Shower, my parents, she and I went to Shaw’s Crab House for brunch. It’s an unlimited buffet brunch (this is the Midwest we’re talking about!) and it ended up being my favorite buffet brunch that I’ve ever had!
So after my Chicago Bridal Shower, I decided this should be a tradition, and my parents, Greg and I again went to Shaw’s.
What makes Shaw’s brunch so amazing?
It has typical breakfast fare, like eggs Benedict, donuts, scrambled eggs, hash browns, caramelized smoked bacon, breakfast sausage, cinnamon roll French toast, create-your-own omelets, and Belgian waffles.
But it also has fabulous seafood dishes, like lobster bisque, seafood gumbo, lobster mac and cheese, parmesan crusted cod, and crab cakes.
But that’s not all (I feel like a gameshow host, ha)!
Shaw’s also has a famous cold seafood bar, where you can gorge yourself on unlimited oysters and shrimp, as well as sushi and ceviche.
And my absolute favorite part of the brunch is tucked away in the corner, where you can get plates and plates full of steamed king crab legs.
Dipped in melted butter, they’re the best part of Shaw’s brunch, and I recommend a plate of crab legs between every plate of buffet food. You know, a palate cleanser of sorts!
And when you go for the mac and cheese (and I always tend to go for the mac and cheese!) make sure it’s after a fresh batch has been laid out. Otherwise other diners will pick out the lobster chunks before you can have any!
And when it’s time for dessert, skip the dessert table! Instead have a Belgian waffle. They’re the best Belgian waffles I’ve ever had, and they’re small enough to not make you completely explode after a full meal.

I love Shaw’s Crab House, and wish we had more upcoming Bridal Showers so we could continue the tradition of dining there!
Although I suppose we can easily find another excuse!
