I had the BEST BACHELORETTE PARTY EVER, and I’m so excited to share the amazing pictures with you!
From the beginning, I knew I didn’t want a typical Bachelorette Party, with heavy drinking and partying and late nights and phallic accessories. That’s just so not my scene. Instead I wanted to be on a beach with my friends, relaxing with a tropical drink in hand.
I was joined by Jenny (my friend and Maid of Honor), Marisa (my cousin and bridesmaid), and my close friends, Ann and Lauren.
None of us had ever been to Antigua (the “u” is silent) in the West Indies, so we figured it would be fun to explore a new country together.
The views from the plane window only amped up our excitement!
We figured an all-inclusive resort would be easiest, so we wouldn’t have to worry about splitting bills while we were there. After lots of research, we decided on the adults-only Cocobay Resort.
Everything I read online heralded the resort as beautiful and a great value. It was also amusingly rated the “most romantic” resort in the West Indies, so we weren’t surprised when it was mostly honeymooners.
Located right on the water, it had the vibe of a BnB, which I loved, since it felt more local and natural than a large commercial resort.
And it was just as beautiful as promised.
We arrived and were greeted like celebrities by the staff and the resort’s owner. We were immediately handed rum punch, starting our stay in the best possible way.
Akeel showed us to our rooms, which were little cottages on the hillside. Jenny and I shared one, and Lauren, Ann and Marisa shared the other.
We didn’t have a problem with mosquitos, but we were still given netting above the bed, just in case we wanted to sleep with the balcony doors open.
And oh, what a view our balcony provided!
Even our shower had amazing views!
The ladies had thoughtfully arranged a champagne toast as a way to kick off the festivities.
And then we quickly changed into our bikinis and headed down to the beach, but not before testing out the hammock that comes with each cottage!
The beach was beautiful and practically deserted.
And it had the clearest water I’d ever seen!
After spending the afternoon at the beach, we moved to one of the resort’s infinity pools, where the girls surprised me with this fabulous engagement ring float!
I loved it!
After the sun set, we changed and headed to dinner.
Where the girls surprised me with a sash and veil which I barely took off for the rest of the weekend!
We went to be early (my ideal vacation!) and I woke up to the most beautiful view from my cottage balcony. I’ve never felt further away from New York City!
I relaxed for a bit, soaking it all in.
Then Jenny and I walked to meet the girls at breakfast.
Recognizing a familiar face along the way.
I couldn’t have dreamed up more beautiful breakfast views.
And this early in the morning, the pools were empty and oh so inviting.
But we didn’t dally for long. The ladies had planned another surprise for me: we would be swimming with stingrays! And it was so incredible that I dedicated an entire post, just to that! You can read it here.
Afterwards we got back to the resort and ordered another round of drinks, which I sipped from my fabulous bride straw!
And then we just relaxed the day away, with drinks in our hands and adorable hats on our heads.
When the sun began setting we showered and changed for dinner.
But before we ate, the girls asked me fun questions about Greg and our relationship, and filmed it. They also filmed Greg answering the same questions, and are going to arrange it so he and I can watch the final video together once we’re married.
I’m looking forward to seeing all of the wonderful things Greg said about me, ha!
The next morning, we woke up early to get as much pool time in as possible before our flight home.
Then we reluctantly packed our bags and said goodbye to paradise.
I couldn’t have had a more perfect weekend.
Cocobay Resort is stunningly beautiful, and well worth a visit. Swimming with stingrays was incredible, and something I never expected to do in my life. And, most importantly, the ladies went all out to make sure I felt special and loved, and I was so grateful for all of the details they planned to make the weekend a magical one.
I am blessed to have such wonderful, supportive, and fun women in my life!
