I had two items on my winter bucket list:
- Participate in the Ice Ball
- Go to 230 Fifth’s Rooftop Bar and have a drink in their seasonal igloos.
After I checked the Ice Ball off, I was so close to completing my list that I knew I couldn’t stop there! (Yes, I realize there were only two items on my bucket list, but still. It’s important to accomplish things in life).
One day after work, Jess, Ann and I got together for a winter-themed happy hour.
Igloo seating is first come, first served, and they can get very crowded in the peak winter months. However, by March it’s much less crowded, and we had no problem finding a table inside one of the bar’s heated igloos.
It just got better as the sun set, and the rooftop began to light up in blue and red lights that contrasted with the city’s bright skyline around us.
After far too many drinks for a school night, we bundled up, left our warm igloo, and headed home.
We stopped on the way out for one final picture in front of the Empire State Building, even though we’ve all lived in NYC for years. Because no matter how many times you’ve seen the skyline at night, it never truly gets old.
230 Fifth has igloos every year from November to May, so it’s not too late for you to check them out!
It was a fun experience, and I’m so glad I finally got to cross it off my winter bucket list! That being said, it’s not necessarily something I feel the need to do again. But I do think it’s worth doing once, if nothing else, for the pictures alone. And I suppose for the time spent with good friends, too!
