For the Broadway shows that I really want to see, I get tickets well in advance so I can be sure I get the best seats in the house.
But for the Broadway shows that I don’t feel that passionately about, I’m in no way interested in spending a fortune on tickets. That’s why I love the Broadway Lottery. I’m very lucky (ha!) so I often win, and tickets are usually in the $30-40 range. Plus the seat locations are really fabulous since, by the time the lottery opens up the day before or the day of a show, the venue is just trying to fill all of the seats. It’s the best way to see shows on Broadway, and is perfect for New Yorkers since we don’t have the time crunch that visiting tourists have. We can wait to see something until we’ve won the lottery!
I recently won the lottery (I love phrasing it like that!) for The Cher Show, and invited Jess to come along with me.
We were in the third row of the Orchestra section, and our tickets were only $30 each!
The musical had three different actresses who played Cher, one representing each phase of her life. They played off of each other in a fun way, leaving the audience laughing at their many one liners.
The show is a lot of fun, with great costumes and of course great songs. I hadn’t known much about Cher’s story, and learned a lot about her life while watching the musical.
The audience was really into it, so much so that the curtain call had people up out of their seats, dancing to the music.
And I loved how often throughout the show, audience members would yell out, “YASSSS GIRL!” It made the experience that much more fabulous!
The musical lost a little steam at the end, but overall it was really entertaining, and a fun way to spend a random weeknight.
Good luck! I “Believe” in you!
