Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I love this holiday for several reasons. First, I’m Irish (I mean, isn’t everyone?) so it’s fun connecting to my heritage, albeit on a mostly superficial level. Second, green is my best color, so I’m all about a holiday that requires head-to-toe green as its dress code! And third, the whole point of St. Patrick’s Day is to have fun, so it’s one of the most relaxed, carefree holidays there is.
For the past several years there’s been another reason why I love St. Patrick’s Day: it’s a chance to raise money for our troops! SSMAC, the military charity I’ve long been involved with, hosts a fundraising happy hour leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, giving everyone a chance to get together in their finest greenery to support a worthy cause.
On Thursday we gathered at St. James Gate, a cute Irish bar on the Upper West Side.
There we adorned ourselves with St. Patrick’s Day accessories and toasted to the Irish, the SSMAC, the military, and basically anything else we could come up with!
