The Gel Bar

One of my favorite aspects of the holiday season is attending every event in a festive dress reflecting the colors and sparkle of Christmastime. This year I decided to take it a step further by having not just my clothing, but my nails, reflect this holiday spirit too.

I headed to The Gel Bar in Midtown for a Christmassy gel manicure. And while the nail salon specializes in gel manicures and pedicures, they also do traditional mani pedis and pretty much anything else you’d like done to your nails.

Inspired by the ornaments on my Christmas tree, I chose nail art combining red, white and gold colors. The nail artist (is that what they’re called?!) started with a base coat of gold that sparkled in the light.

Followed by a white pattern.

And finished with bright, festive red!

I loved the final look, and got so many compliments on my nails.

I happily headed home to compare my nails with their inspiration!

I’d say I “nailed” it!

The Gel Bar is clean and the technicians are friendly and talented. However it is pricier than most gel manicures in New York City. Plain gel manicures are $55 and if you’d like a design the price just goes up from there (mine was $30 extra). So I’ll be sticking to my normal nail salon for my everyday gel manicures, but I do recommend The Gel Bar whenever you’d like to treat yourself, or if you have a festive event approaching.

You can find out more information on The Gel Bar here and if you’d like to call and make an appointment the number is (212) 695-5985.
