Spending time in Connecticut with my extended family is my favorite Thanksgiving tradition. That and watching the Rockettes perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
This year our celebration started with another tradition I love: cousin dinner on the night before Thanksgiving. It was a smaller group this time (normally there are a bunch of us!) with Greg and I joining Shannon, Marisa, Sarah and Bill for dinner in Guilford, Connecticut.
Cousin dinner allows us cousins to catch up and share details of our lives, away from the prying ears of the “adults!”
Then the next morning we woke up and watched the parade in our pajamas, just as the pilgrims intended.
We eventually showered, changed and pulled ourselves together in time to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at my aunt and uncle’s house in Colchester, Connecticut.
Even though my brother Josh couldn’t join us this year, his wine still made an appearance!
And so did many of my favorite family members.
The food was incredible, as always, and so was the conversation. I’m so lucky to have the family that I do!
And while we’re on the subject of traditions, Thanksgiving weekend wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the beach. It was still beautiful even though it was absolutely freezing outside!
As is typical in this family, we all got together for a group activity. This year it was bowling!
And, since this is my blog and no one else is here to correct me, I’ll just say that I won both bowling games!
It was so nice spending another Thanksgiving with such wonderful people.
I hope your holiday was just as special.
