Ann loves Britney Spears (I mean really though, who doesn’t?!) and has been raving about Broadway Bodies, a dance studio where you can learn the dances to popular songs by famous artists, including Beyoncé, the Backstreet Boys, Missy Elliott, Rihanna, and Britney herself. You can also learn routines to popular Broadway shows and the studio even offers lyrical classes too.
Because she had me at Britney, Ann easily convinced me to join her for a fun class. We’d be learning the routine to the greatest Britney song ever: Hit Me Baby One More Time.
The 50-minute class was amazing. It was so much fun, and even though dancing is a great workout it didn’t even feel like a workout at all (in that it didn’t completely suck). I wish Broadway Bodies was closer to where I lived because I would come here every day if I could!
And if you’re worried about how challenging the classes are, don’t be. Our class had a variety of skill levels, with some people having an obvious dance background and some people attending their first dance class ever (or so it seemed). Regardless of where you’re at, the studio’s mantra is “FTC.” They encourage you to “f**k the choreography” and just enjoy rocking out to your favorite songs.
I’m about to show you a video of our dance class, so keep an eye out for Ann and me! I’m the one with my hands up in this picture, wearing all black, bright shoes, and a blue sports bra.
And Ann is on the right in this picture in a green top with black yoga pants.
Now see if you can spot us in the video. It’s like a fun game of Where’s Waldo!
And I’ve found it’s better to watch the dance in the mirror than watch our backs, FYI.
Now that you’ve watched the video, you can see what I mean. No matter the person’s skillset or mastery of the choreography, everyone in the room was having fun and enjoying the experience. Because, when it comes to dancing to your favorite 90s songs, that’s what it’s all about!
I love love love Broadway Bodies! You can find their schedule, and sign up for a class, here.
And if you’re lucky enough to live nearby and be able to go all the time, take advantage of it for my sake!
