One of my favorite New Yorkers is moving away! And while I’m being slightly dramatic (she’s only moving slightly north to Stamford, Connecticut!) it won’t be the same not having Lauren right around the corner!
As a going away party, Lauren wanted to get together with her closest girlfriends for a night of cupcake decorating at Georgetown Cupcake in Soho. And because we’re reallllllly good friends, we decided we would suffer through a night of delicious desserts, just for Lauren. Aren’t we so generous?!
Ta-da! Here are our cupcakes!
Just kidding, those are the professional cupcakes that were laid out at the cupcake-decorating table for inspiration. And we were allowed to eat them while we worked, which was a pretty fabulous incentive… not to work.
The staff laid out everything we needed including frosting, fondant, edible markers, sprinkles and decorations.
And we were each given 12 assorted cupcakes on which to create our masterpieces.
After scarfing down several of the example cupcakes, we got to work!
And while it was fun allowing our creative vision to take over, it would have been nice if the Georgetown Cupcake employees had been more hands-on and given us tutorials on how to decorate. Obviously we can figure out the basics, but the store has some really uniquely-decorated cupcakes and I would have loved to learn how to create those designs.
I finished my box of cupcakes quickly since I have no cupcake decorating skills whatsoever and I wanted to eat more example cupcakes instead.
Stunning… absolutely stunning… ha!
My friends are much more talented when it comes to decorating! Well… most of them at least!
Here they are: the most beautiful cupcakes you’ve ever seen!
This was hands-down one of my favorite going away parties ever. In fact, all going away parties should have cupcakes: I’m making it a new rule!
