We walked down a statement-making hallway…
…and into the bar area where we sat sipping on some of the restaurant’s signature cocktails while waiting for our table.
When it was time for dinner we were escorted to a beautiful, white room adorned with chandeliers. So if there was any doubt at all, this was definitely going to be a classy burlesque show!
A prix fixe menu is served with each burlesque show, with unique menu items like Creole Ceviche, Spicy Merguez Lamb Sausage, and Creole Spice-Dusted Salmon. The food was surprisingly delicious, and we would have been happy with the meal even if it didn’t include a show.
But the show was the best part, of course. It featured glamorous performers who began each number dressed to the nines, and ended each number barely dressed (think tassels and thongs and not much else).
But since my grandma reads this blog (hi grandma!) I’m only going to include the more appropriate pictures.
I liked that the performers were a mix of different races and body types, recognizing that beauty comes in all forms.
And we especially liked the last performer: a man, finally!
It was incredible watching the strength and beauty of his performance. You can get a peek of it here:
All in all we loved the food and enjoyed the show. If I had any critiques, it would be that the show was just an hour long, and only featured five or six performers. I had expected a little more of a production than that. However, that being said, we did enjoy each act and could tell the performers put a lot of effort into it.
Plus there was a live band and an MC/singer, so that added to the atmosphere.
If you want to visit Duane Park you should absolutely make reservations! Reservations can be made beginning 30 days in advance here. And to find out more information on Duane Park, and see more videos, click here.
And FYI, while I said visiting the Moulin Rouge wouldn’t be at all awkward to do with your family, the same is NOT the case with Duane Park! It’s definitely meant to be enjoyed with your girlfriends or on date night, not with your grandmother (hi again)!
P.S. My dress is by Slate & Willow and you can find it here.
