As you can tell from the pictures, it wasn’t the best evening for a sailing trip, but luckily the rain held off while we were out on the water. And the weather gave us the added bonus of being the only guests on the sailboat!
We made ourselves comfortable.
And then the voyage began!
The crew were incredibly attentive, constantly bringing us drinks and offering blankets and ponchos if there was even one drop of rain. They really thought of everything to make sure guests were comfortable in any type of weather.
We sailed down the Hudson River and close to the Statue of Liberty. Despite living in New York City for over 4 1/2 years, I’m still impressed whenever I see her.
We continued around Manhattan and into the East River, sailing under the Brooklyn Bridge.
And then as the sun disappeared beyond the horizon and the sky darkened, we headed back to port, watching the city slowly light up in the night.
I absolutely loved our sunset sailing experience despite the looming rainclouds. The crew were awesome and it was fun having the boat to ourselves. Plus the 2 1/2 hour sailing was the perfect length, as it let us take all the photos we wanted while still leaving plenty of time to drink champagne and hang out with each other, taking in the stunning views. I cannot recommend Manhattan by Sail enough!

Between the sailing experience and being surrounded by my fabulous friends, it was the perfect NYC birthday celebration. I am the luckiest girl in the world!
