After nearly five years of living in New York, I’m finally letting you in on a little secret:
Drybar.
Throughout the years, whenever I’ve had an event I’ve either gotten my hair blown out, or gotten an updo, at Drybar. Odds are if you’ve seen my hair in a blog post and thought it looked nice, it was because I went to Drybar that day.

Drybar has such a cute concept. Its locations are set up like bars, with menus listing the available blow out styles which are named after popular drinks like the “Manhattan,” “Mai Tai” and “Southern Comfort.” I usually go with the “Cosmo” since I love the look of loose curls.

And because Drybar doesn’t offer coloring or haircuts, their stylists are well-versed in blowouts and updos since that’s what they do all day every day.

And I just love how Drybar’s products smell! I use their Texas Tea shampoo at home because it smells incredible (oh and it makes my hair look good too)!

If you’re wondering when exactly I got my hair done at Drybar, I got a blowout there for:
The 2015 World Masquerade Ball
And I’ve even gone to Drybar before having professional headshots taken!
Drybar stylists can even add cute braids to your look, like I did for the 2017 Quadrille Ball.
I’ve gotten updos at Drybar for the past three Scandinavian Christmas Balls:
2015 Scandinavian Christmas Ball
2016 Scandinavian Christmas Ball
2017 Scandinavian Christmas Ball
I’ve gotten smooth, chic updos for the 2016 Quadrille Ball.
And the 2017 October Ball.
And I’ve done a few looser updos, like at the 2018 Spring Soirée.
And my 2017 Christmas Afternoon Tea
You can see all of Drybar’s available blow out and updo styles here. Not all of my updos are on the menu because you can bring in outside photos and ask for that style instead. The menu is just a guideline, especially when it comes to updos.
If you do bring your own photo, or even if you want one of the updos on the menu, I recommend going with that location’s updo expert. You can call and ask who is good at updos and make your appointment with that person.
If you’re visiting Drybar’s Midtown East location, I recommend getting an updo with either Lyndasia or Katja. They’re both really great and my hair has always looked fabulous when they’ve done it.
And I suggest skipping Drybar’s Upper East Side location. For whatever reason my hair has never looked good when I’ve gone there even though I’ve had a different stylist each time.

Pretty soon you’ll be looking just as fabulous as I do!
(Just kidding)!

Update: Drybar has gone seriously downhill since I wrote this blog post. If you’re looking for a great place to get a blowout or updo, I recommend going here instead.
