I know a New York City restaurant is good when I want to visit it multiple times. With so many restaurant choices in the city, I only go back to the same place when I absolutely love it.
And Quality Eats is one of those places I’ve eaten at again and again.
Quality Eats has locations in NoMad, the West Village, and the Upper East Side. I’ve been going to the UES one since it’s the closest to me.
When the restaurant first opened I was so confused by the sign. I had heard of Quality Meats, and this restaurant had the same name but with the “m” either missing or crossed out. It led to a debate with my friends on whether this was intentional or just a hilarious mistake.
After a quick google search, it turns out the name is very much intentional. Quality Eats is part of the Quality Branded group, which also owns Quality Meats, Quality Italian, and Park Avenue Seasons. Now you know!
The last time I was there was for brunch. After seeing this dish on someone else’s table, we leaned over and asked what they were eating. It looked so good! And while we were eating it, other people leaned over and asked us what we were eating. It was the most talked about dish at the restaurant!
The dish is the Tater Tot Chilaquiles for Two. It has tater tots (no surprise there) topped with pork chile verde, fried eggs, cheese, fresh cilantro, jalapeños and scallions.
It is hearty, and delicious…
…and absolutely massive!
It’s the size of a pizza!
It’s the best kind of comfort food and would be fabulous for hangovers too (not that I would know)!
I’ve also gone to Quality Eats for dinner and loved that menu too. It’s such a good restaurant you really can’t go wrong with whatever you order!
