My mom and I both love sushi, so while she was in NYC I also took her to Tao. It is hands down one of the coolest restaurants we’ve ever been to!
One minute you’re in New York City and the next you’re inside what appears to be a massive Asian temple.
We weren’t particularly hungry so we shared a couple of rolls.
We got the Spicy King Crab, Shrimp and Asparagus Roll as well as the Crispy Spicy Tuna Roll with Avocado and Soy Paper.
Both rolls were delicious, and very filling, but I’ve had good sushi at a lot of places. What really sets Tao apart isn’t the food, but how fabulous the decor is, with a 16-foot tall Buddha as a focal point.
Dining at Tao is certainly an experience worth having.
You can make a reservation for the uptown location (58th Street & Madison Ave) here or the downtown location (16th Street & 9th Ave) here.
Tao is a little slice of the extraordinary, right here in New York City.
