Greg and I will be traveling a lot over the holidays visiting family (Chicago and Florida and Italy, oh my!) so we wanted to celebrate Christmas early with just the two of us.
He took me to The NoMad Restaurant which is my absolute favorite restaurant in New York City over Christmas. It’s stunningly beautiful ordinarily, and especially when decorated for the holidays.
I’m obsessed with the library. I want to have one in my home just like it!
While we waited for our table to be ready we sat in one of the sofas near the Christmas tree and drank egg nog. Well, more precisely, egg nog cocktails! The menu adorably described them as “sugar, spice and everything nice.”
I loved sitting in the library so much I was almost disappointed when our table was ready! We followed the hostess through the festively-decorated bar and into the dining room.
We dug into the bread while looking over the menu.
Our first course was phenomenal. Seriously, phenomenal.
We had White Truffle Risotto served with butter and parmesan. It was so wonderful that Greg and I literally stopped talking while we ate it, and just kept looking at each other with eyes wide as we took bite after bite.
We continued the truffle trend with our second course, the Black Truffle Tarte with crème fraîche and mascarpone. It wasn’t as good as the first dish, but it was still good because: truffles.
For our main courses we had Lobster poached with parsnips, grapes and tarragon.
And the Suckling Pig confit with pears, chicory and pancetta. This was my second-favorite item on the menu. It is cooked and flavored perfectly!
We finished our fabulous meal with Sweet Potato custard with gingerbread, chestnuts and maple ice cream.
The NoMad is truly magical at Christmastime, and it was a meal and an evening I’ll remember forever.
