October has always been my favorite month. It’s the month of fall leaves, hot apple cider, crisp air, warm comfort food, and Halloween. And, this year, October (or should I say Oktober?!) was also the month of SSMAC’s Oktoberfest party.
As you know from past events, SSMAC is the Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, Coast Guard and Airmen’s Club, a charity dedicated to supporting both active and retired members of our military. Our SSMAC Junior Committee put together the club’s first annual Oktoberfest party as a fun way to raise money for the organization. And oh was it ever fun!
You know my NYC friends and I always go all out when it comes to dressing for parties, so it’s no surprise there were dirndls and lederhosen everywhere you looked!
This picture is one of my favorites. Claire is wearing a traditional dirndl, and I am essentially wearing a beer maid Halloween costume! One of us is slightly more authentic than the other!
This picture made us all laugh so hard. Can you hear the baby’s heartbeat, Mike?
All of the VIP guests were given engraved glass beer steins to use during the party and to take home afterwards. I don’t like beer so I filled mine with wine the entire afternoon!
Before long the party was in full swing, with kegs being tapped, German schnitzel and pretzels being sampled, and lots of fun oompah music being played. It felt like we were all in Germany rather than Midtown New York!
I laughed out loud when I saw this picture. I have no idea what story I was telling the girls, but judging from their faces it was clearly very dramatic!
You know it’s a good Oktoberfest party when…
We all had a blast at SSMAC’s Oktoberfest, and raised a lot of money for a very deserving organization. To find out more information on SSMAC, or to donate, click here.
Prost!
