The Shakespeare

There are two things I love in life: London and food.

(Ok and family and friends and dancing and travel… but those things don’t go with this blog post)!

Anyway, The Shakespeare combines my two great loves into one, featuring classic British food that reminds me of my time in London. It’s located inside the aptly-named hotel, The William.

(Sadly I am just making the connection for the first time as I write this)!

The William is a cool boutique hotel in the heart of Midtown, with serious Sherlock Holmes vibes.

You can sit inside at The Shakespeare.

But when the weather is nice I much prefer the patio. Clearly I’m not alone in taking advantage of the remaining nice days of the year!

Everything on the menu is influenced by our friends across the pond. Even the condiments are British!

I’ve been to The Shakespeare more times than I can count; It’s a favorite with my work friends. I recommend getting a Scotch Egg, which is bigger than you’d expect and easy to share as an appetizer.

The Steak & Ale Pie is also delicious, and is served with “mash” as the Brits say!

And it should come as no surprise that the Fish & Chips are good here as well.

For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the Milk Chocolate & Sea Salt Tart, which comes with hazelnut ice cream.

And the Peach Melba is delicious too, with vanilla ice cream, peaches and toasted almonds.

It’s the perfect “home away from home” for Brits, as well as for anglophiles like me!
