Even though it’s only September, the Quadrille season has officially begun!
Months of preparation go into every Quadrille Ball, with events each week through the winter. And it’s tradition to kick off the season with a reception at Boat Basin Cafe, a casual restaurant and bar right on the Hudson River.
Boat Basin Cafe is absolutely gorgeous at night, when the setting sun paints the sky and water in gorgeous blue tones.
Everyone comes to this event, including alumni, prospective dancers, and the Quadrille Junior Committee (not sure what Quadrille is? Read up on it here)!
And we had something extra to celebrate too: Geoff and Matt’s engagement!
As the sky darkened we took a few more photos before joining the group inside the actual Cafe.
Even when you’re inside at the Boat Basin Cafe you’re still pretty much outside.
Last year Nick and I were the Quadrille Junior Committee Co-Chairs. This year we were promoted to the Chairs! And we were super pumped that our celebrity nickname, “Nickley,” would continue.
That is until Nick decided to move to Florida this month! So now Andrew has taken over, and he and I are the Chairs.
Here are Andrew and me with the new Co-Chairs, Lauren and Taylor. Lauren you have quite the shoes to fill!
We stayed at the Boat Basin Cafe for hours, until closing time. Then we headed to another bar for an after party, another Quadrille tradition!
And said one final goodbye to Nick! We’ll miss you so much!
I’m so excited for this season! Quadrille weeks are the best weeks!
