On one of the last weekends of the summer, one of my favorite friends in the city celebrated her birthday. We boarded the Fish Bar as the sun was setting… on Jessica’s youth. Just kidding Jess!
The Fish Bar is a lot like the North River Lobster Company in that there’s no cost to board and the bar/restaurant sails into the Hudson every so often. But the North River Lobster Company boat only ventures off on 45-minute voyages. The Fish Bar, on the other hand, sets off for at least 1.5 hours, so you get to do more sailing and see more of the skyline along the Hudson. For this reason I ended up liking the Fish Bar a lot better!
We were all so happy to celebrate such a special person.
As the boat began her journey down the Hudson, we had the most beautiful views of the city (and of New Jersey, but I’ll never admit that!).
We pulled up to the Statue of Liberty just as the sun was making its final descent behind the horizon, bathing the river and the statue in brilliant light.
Even though I’ve lived in the city for almost three years now, I still can’t help fan girling a little bit every time I get up close to Lady Liberty.
I wasn’t the only one!
And here’s the whole squad:
As the boat headed back up the Hudson, we were treated to one of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen in the city.
And as the day turned to twilight, and then into night, I was reminded of just how lucky I am to be living here.
If your experience is anything like mine, then you will absolutely love the Fish Bar. How could you not?!
