The Penrose

Noel was visiting NYC (again), so one lazy Sunday morning we got brunch at The Penrose.

The Penrose is a super cute bar and restaurant on the Upper East Side that’s a bright brunch spot during the day and a dark, cozy date spot in the evening.

We started with drinks at the bar. Doesn’t it look cool?!

I had the Penrose Spritz with aperol, cocchi americano, sparkling wine, and orange juice. I thought it would taste like a mimosa, but really it just tasted like Orange Crush…

We then moved to a table by the window for the actual brunch.

Where we were joined by Noel’s friends Ino and Lily (not pictured).

Noel ordered the Fried Chicken & Waffle served with brown butter maple syrup and rosemary butter. He took this picture himself and was very proud of it. Good job Noel!

Ino selected the Chorizo Hash with scrambled eggs, cheddar, tomato and scallions.

I had the Breakfast Burrito filled with egg, chorizo, potato, guacamole, cheddar and salsa. It wasn’t that good, so I recommend selecting one of the other brunch dishes.

And Lily had Baked Eggs in Tomato Sauce with goat cheese and toast.

The best part about brunch? Noel finally taking a smiling picture!

Come back soon Noel!
