I have a new favorite seafood spot! Kellari Taverna is a fabulous restaurant that serves fresh, traditional Greek food right here in midtown.
The restaurant is bright and airy, with wood-beamed cathedral ceilings and walls warmed with sunset hues. It’s a perfect respite during these cold winter days.
Ordering seafood? Then you can select exactly which piece you want prepared for you!
Your meal begins, as every good meal should, with warm bread and homemade hummus.
For appetizers, I recommend the Spanakopita which is phyllo pies filled with spinach, leeks and feta cheese.
I also love the Lobster Ravioli served with octopus and mussels in a creamy wine sauce.
For your main course, I recommend sampling the Fish of the Day. When I went, it was a perfectly-prepared white snapper.
As this is a Greek restaurant, I also recommend the Paidakia which is grilled lamb chops with olive oil and oregano braised potatoes.
The Scallops are also delicious, and are pan seared over cauliflower puree and truffled tarama with salmon caviar.
No matter what you order, you’ll feel like you’re dining on a Greek island. Kellari is the perfect escape!
