Black Tap Burgers & Shakes

Everyone in New York is talking about Black Tap Burgers & Beer, but not for the reason you think! Yes it’s a burger joint, but lately the instagram-worthy shakes have been the city’s focal point.

I’m not one to miss out on an amazing milkshake, so I headed there on Thursday with my food soulmates, Jess and Marilyn, to check it out!

There was a bouncer at the door! These must be some serious milkshakes!

I picked up the menu which has Black Tap’s three current milkshakes, and immediately said “let’s order all of them!” To which Jess, who was looking at the food menu, replied, “I don’t know if I can eat 12 burgers!”

We decided to order burgers first, and just have a few bites (to make it a respectable dinner) before moving on to the ice cream. But, it turns out, the burgers at Black Tap are fabulous! They were so good that we ended up eating all of our dinner!

Jess and I had The All-American Burger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, American cheese and truffle mayo.

Marilyn had The Old Fashioned, which has crimini mushrooms, swiss cheese, caramelized onions and horseradish sauce.

Then it was time for the main event! Look at how crazy these milkshakes are!

This is the Sweet ‘n’ Salty, with a chocolate-peanut butter rim with M&Ms and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and salted caramel ice cream topped with a sugar daddy, chocolate-covered pretzels, whipped cream and chocolate drizzle.

And this is the Cotton Candy. It has a vanilla-frosted rim covered in blue, pink and pearl chocolates and vanilla ice cream topped with a pink lollipop, whipped cream and cotton candy.

See, aren’t these milkshakes amazing to look at?!

The Meatpacking location (there’s also a Soho spot) wasn’t too crowded (we went at around 7pm and didn’t have to wait long) but by the time we left, around 9pm, there was a line out the door! Guess Black Tap does need a bouncer!

Black Tap changes its milkshakes every so often, so be sure to check out their instagram account to see even more pictures of fabulous shakes! My favorite is the Birthday Cake, which includes an entire slice of cake!

Don’t be the only New Yorker who hasn’t tried it!
