Last weekend, I headed back to California for the first time since I moved away two years ago. It didn’t feel like home, however, because where I stayed was nothing like ocean-side LA! Instead, Lake Tahoe is nestled high among the Sierra Nevada mountains, making it feel more like Colorado than Southern California.
I was in town for my friend Victoria’s wedding, and was joined for a day of exploring by our mutual friends Marilyn and Stef.
I had never been to Lake Tahoe before, so we made it a point to venture out onto the beach and get a closer look at its stunning blue water.
There were pools of water all along the sand that shimmered beautifully in the November sunshine.
See? It looks nothing like Southern California!
Awe guys, you really shouldn’t have…
There was a tiny strip of sand that jutted far out into the lake. So Marilyn headed out there to be “Jesus walking on water.” What, like it’s hard?!
And because I’m a follower (of Jesus and Marilyn) I had to venture out for my own pictures too.
That evening was the rehearsal dinner, so I slipped into a warm Nha Khanh little red dress (with my little black and red-soled pumps) and headed back to the Lake.
The sunset in Lake Tahoe? Absolutely stunning.
The dinner was right next to the water, and was catered by the area’s famous Red Truck food truck.
The food was delicious, and had a unique mix of Indian, Mexican and Mediterranean flavors.
Here we are with the bride to be!
Stay tuned for my next Lake Tahoe post featuring the wedding and my favorite hotel in the area!
