When you arrive, a doorman shows you into a small room. You then walk down winding steps into a dimly-lit restaurant that makes you feel as if you’re in a posh, well-decorated cave.
The vibe was a little on the pretentious side, as if Beautique thinks that it’s much too cool for you. However, our waiter was friendly and the food was good, so you can’t fault Beautique too much for feeling superior.
Jess and I started with the restaurant’s signature cocktail, The Maison Martini, which was a delicious blend of absolut elyx, st germain, lemongrass, fresh pineapple and mint.
When you dine at Beautique, you absolutely must order the 18 Month Prosciutto di Parma & Burrata which is served with grilled country bread. The buratta was so fresh and delicious that Jess and I joked that we wanted to lick it off the plate! (We didn’t, don’t worry!)
For her main course, Jess selected the Salmon with fennel confit, artichoke, fava beans and black olives served in citrus beurre blanc and sicilian pesto. We both liked the sauce a lot.
I ordered the Scallops with spring vegetables and grilled zucchini in a corn sauce, which was also good.
If you’re looking to impress someone with a trendy “New York” restaurant, Beautique is a great spot with solid fare. You can find more information, and book a table, here.
Oh and a pro tip for the ladies: most of the restaurant’s patrons are men. Just something to keep in mind when you’re planning a dinner with your single girlfriends!
