Summer may be almost over, but the fun doesn’t have to end when the weather gets cooler. From now until October, Hampton Luxury Liner is offering day trips from the city to three different Long Island vineyards. Not only does each stop feature tastings of four different wines, each vineyard also has live music and outdoor seating to fully soak in the season’s remaining sunshine.
My friend Anton and I went yesterday, and the Hampton Luxury Liner picked us up right in Midtown. It’s definitely not the public transportation busses that we’re used to! Instead, it has spacious leather seats, Wi-Fi, TV monitors, and personal power outlets. Hampton Luxury Liner also provides snacks and drinks for you to enjoy on the ride.
The bus takes you to three different vineyards during the day, alternating between Pindar Vineyards, Duckwalk Vineyards, Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, Jason’s Vineyard, Palmer Vineyards and Osprey’s Dominion Vineyards.
The first stop yesterday was at Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard in Calverton.
We chose several wines to sample, including the White Satin, Angel Chardonnay, Riesling, Savannah Rosé and Merlot Rosé.
I loved the wines, especially the White Satin. We also both really liked the Savannah Rosé.
Our next stop was Jason’s Vineyard in Jamesport.
I loved the viking ship theme!
Here we chose more whites and rosés to sample. The Golden Fleece was the definite winner, and we kept coming back for more!
Jason’s Vineyard has a great outdoor patio, where a live band serenades guests with country-music classics.
This was the longest stop of the day, so we had time to alternate wine tastings with an outdoor lunch, listening to music, and exploring the vineyards.
Our final stop was at Osprey’s Dominion Vineyards, a 90-acre property in Peconic.
This was the only stop that had a set wine-tasting menu, which consisted of Sauvignon Blanc, Regina Maris Chardonnay, Semi-Dry Riesling and Cabernet Franc.
The Semi-Dry Riesling was the best of the four.
My favorite part about Osprey’s Dominion Vineyards is the huge outdoor lawn, where you can play lawn games, have a picnic and listen to music.
Or you can wander a bit further, and taste some of the grapes! (This may or may not be allowed…)
Then it was time to get back on the bus, and head back to the city with a slightly rowdier crowd.

Now back to my wine!
