Last week, Kendall, Jess, Danielle and I attended a pop-up underground art show at the M1-5 Lounge in Tribeca. The show had two amazing things going for it: it had pancakes, and it had booze!
Oh and it had art! So… three things. Ha.
The event featured over 100 emerging New York City artists, musicians and performers.
The level of talent was amazing! Each piece had a tag describing the artist and listing the price, so you were free to make purchases or make a note of artists to watch.
Most of the artists were in attendance, so it was fun being able to meet the visionaries behind the work.
It should come as no surprise that my friends and I headed for the pancakes moments after we arrived. Unfortunately, we weren’t the only hungry ones! The pancake line snaked around the entire event, and you were only given one pancake at a time.
We did however enjoy customizing the sole pancake with our choice of fruit, chocolate, syrup and whipped cream.
After we ate, it was time to explore!
Besides the long line for a lone pancake, the other downside to the event was the amount of people. It was crazy crowded!
But we did manage to squeeze through the crowd and find things that we loved. Like this artist, who makes masterpieces out of candy wrappers.
We were happy to help him out!
Here are a few of my other favorites from the show:
Talented, right?! It’s not long before these underground artists become… aboveground artists?
You can stay updated on future Pancakes & Booze art shows here. As the entry line tends to extend for several blocks, I highly recommend purchasing the VIP tickets which bring you straight to the front. You’re too good for lines!
I’d love to hear what your favorite pieces were!
