On Wednesday, my friend Becky and I started our day unlike any other. We woke up at 4:30am, and headed to the Highline Ballroom in Chelsea for Daybreaker.
Daybreaker is a morning movement that’s sweeping across major cities in the U.S. and the world. Its purpose is simple: to provide a positive, uplifting and upbeat start to the workday.
The morning begins with yoga at 6:00am.
The website didn’t specify, so I told Becky that we probably didn’t need to bring yoga mats. Well… you do. Sorry Becky!
Luckily she thought it was funny, and began referring to our mat-less yoga as “extreme yoga!”
Wondering where we are in the crowd? Well, we weren’t in the crowd!
We were doing yoga onstage.
There we are on the right! Follow us guys, we’ve got this!

You know how much I love yoga, so it was a wonderful start to the day.
Like my shirt? You can find it here.
After a one-hour yoga class, things start to really pick up at Daybreaker.
The morning continues with a two-hour dance party, which let’s be honest is pretty much how every day should start!
There was literally never a dull moment at Daybreaker. There were fun surprises throughout the morning, like when all of a sudden the crowd parted and there were musicians jamming to the music!
And then there were vegetables onstage, because why not?!
There were also tap dancers, acrobats, jugglers, this guy with the fan, and other awesome performances!
Yep, Daybreaker is amazing.
I know it’s an early start, but I highly recommend that every New Yorker try Daybreaker at least once. It’s an experience that you’ll never forget!
