After a month of heavy holiday food and delicious Christmas cookies, I was looking forward to some healthier fare. So I headed to the Nanoosh in Murray Hill one evening after work for a healthy, Mediterranean meal that would be the equivalent of running 5 miles (ok, that may not be quite how it works!).
I sat down with my organic lemonade and was impressed with how delicious and healthy everything sounded (those two words don’t normally go together in my mind).
Doesn’t the food look amazing?!
Every vegetable side at Nanoosh counts as 3 servings of vegetables, so it’s incredibly easy to eat all of your vegetables!
I selected a powerfood plate, which comes with a base and topping, and hummus and a Mediterranean salad on the side.
I selected Farro Tahini as my base, primarily because I had never heard of it and wanted to try something new! The base has organic farro, sun-dried tomato, organic onion, organic carrot, celery, garlic and corn. Lots of organic in this base!
For a topping I chose the all natural chicken breast. The combination was amazing, if I do say so myself. This dish was SO GOOD!
The sides were delicious as well.
The Mediterranean salad was extremely fresh, and I didn’t even mind that there were onions in it (I normally hate onions!).
And the hummus had lots of olive oil in it which was great! My only complaint was that the whole-wheat pita bread tasted a little too healthy.
The best part was that the meal was incredibly filling. So I was able to eat healthily, leave full, and have the leftovers for lunch the next day.
Nanoosh is the perfect place to go for a quick, healthy meal that is also delicious. Plus, the Mediterranean flavors will make you feel like you’re on vacation, instead of enjoying winter in New York City (ok, that part may be wishful thinking…).
Nanoosh has three locations in New York City (and one in Berlin if you fancy a trip!). You can find the restaurant closest to you here. And don’t worry if the weather is especially brutal, because Nanoosh delivers!
Who says you can’t have it all?
