Ever since I fell in love with the Union Square Greenmarket and found out that there would soon be a holiday market, I’ve been eagerly counting down the days. Every year, Union Square transforms into a festive shopping haven. Candy cane-striped booths pop up in the park, decorated with evergreen and holly and filled with Christmas magic!
After a long 34-day wait, it was finally time!
Blair and I wandered through the aisles, checking out the goodies and watching both New Yorkers and tourists buy holiday gifts for their loved ones (and themselves!).
There are some pretty unique present ideas, like these beer making kits.
Some of the gifts, however, are a little more… shall we say… eclectic?
There is some pretty incredible art. In fact, if you’re in the process of decorating a new apartment, this is the place to go!
I think that these poem mobiles from Pozie Poems are really cool and unique.
So are these amazing subway map prints from LinePosters. Who knew the subway could be so attractive?!
Blair bought the black New York City one on the left. Cool, right?
There are a lot of jewelry stalls, which are a lot fancier than I would have expected from a pop up!
There are also exotic jewelry stalls, where you can buy a trinket and easily tell people you brought it back from some fabulous vacation!
It should come as no surprise that there are Christmas ornaments everywhere. For some reason I just love ornaments like these, where you write names and dates on them. It was so tempting to buy a few for my first New York City Christmas tree!
Don’t worry, there aren’t just items for sale. Holiday food is everywhere!
In keeping with Christmas spirit, not everything at the Union Square Holiday Market costs money.
But most things do, so bring your wallet!
This year, the Union Square Holiday Market is open every day through Christmas Eve. You can find more information here.
But don’t wait until the Christmas Eve rush to shop! This is an experience that you’ll want to savor and enjoy every moment of.
