Last weekend I had a few extra days off of work (thank you Columbus!), so I headed home to Chicago.
Nope, that’s not my house! It used to be Robert R. McCormick’s house, the former owner of the Chicago Tribune. Now it’s a museum located in beautiful Cantigny Park, just outside of Chicago.
My grandmas and I wanted to take advantage of the crisp fall weather, so my grandma suggested that we visit the mansion and gardens at Cantigny on one of the days that I was home. I’m so glad that we did!
The park is absolutely gorgeous in the fall, with vibrant flowers, pumpkins and leaves everywhere.
We walked to the mansion first for a museum tour.
The tour was interesting, and I loved how the home had a unique mix of 1800s and 1950s appliances!
But the highlight of the mansion is definitely the gorgeous grounds that it sits on.
After we had our fill of the mansion, we began strolling through the gardens at Cantigny.
It was such a perfect day with my “grandmums!”
Cantigny Park is absolutely gorgeous in autumn, and I recommend you take advantage of it while the weather is still nice! You can plan your visit here.
Happy fall!
