This past weekend I was feeling really antsy. I haven’t taken a trip in awhile and needed to get out of the LA. The perfect solution was going up to Oxnard for the weekend to visit my parents! On Saturday evening we had dinner at The Sushi House in Pierpont, a neighborhood in Ventura that is right next to the beach and filled with cute little shops and restaurants.
We took our seats in the little back patio and enjoyed the view.
I hadn’t been here before, so I let my mom do the ordering. Our first dish was the Avocado Bomb, which is deep-fried avocado stuffed with spicy tuna and imitation crab, and topped with green onion, masago eggs, eel sauce and spicy mayo. It is a beauty of a dish and tasted heavenly!
Our next appetizer was the Sunfire Shrimp, which is 8 lightly breaded fried shrimp served with sweet and spicy house sauce. Both the shrimp and sauce were delicious, but there was too much sauce for my liking. With a little less sauce, it will be a perfect dish!
Next we ordered the Hawaiian Roll, which is crab, avocado, asparagus, and shrimp tempura on the inside, and topped with tuna, green onion, goma and red sauces on the outside. Yum!
We also got an order of the Garlic Albacore Sushi, which is beautifully presented and so, so fresh.
We concluded our meal with the Salmon Tartar, which is spicy tuna and crab wrapped in fresh salmon and topped with scallops, house made dynamite sauce, eel sauce, green onion, masago eggs. It is a rich, decadent dish and baked to perfection.
After dinner, we took the obligatory walk to the beach and took in the view as the sun slowly set.
After a weekend in this beautiful little town, I felt refreshed and ready to tackle another week!
