I had walked past Vella a million times, and it looked so cute that each time I made a mental note to go back and eat there. Well, guess what?! I finally did!
Vella is an adorable Upper East Side restaurant and wine bar. I went there for lunch, but I will definitely be going back for wine!
So here we go with the good, the bad, and the delicious!
One of the dishes that’s very good is the Crab Avocado Ball. It has crab salad, avocado (surprising!), roma tomatoes and baby arugula. It was fresh and tasty, and is a perfect light appetizer that I highly recommend.
Another dish that I like is the Lobster Mac & Cheese. It has a trio of cheeses and huge chunks of Maine lobster. It’s good, but not quite as good as Harlow. It needs the truffle oil, and then it would be perfect!
And now, unfortunately, for the bad. The Lobster Roll had chilled Maine lobster served on a potato bun with coleslaw and mesclun salad. The chunks of lobster were massive, and I appreciated that. But I did not care for the flavoring, and recommend just skipping it.
And finally, the moment you’ve been waiting for: the delicious!
The Truffle Mac & Cheese arrived piping hot, with huge slices of truffle on top. It was gooey and decadent, and you will love it!
So to recap, next time you’re at Vella order the Crab Avocado Ball as an app, and the Truffle Mac & Cheese as your main course!
Oh and don’t forget about the wine!
