Because my Beer Mac and Cheese is so popular, I decided to make mac and cheese with another ingredient that Americans love: bacon!
This is one of my favorite mac and cheese recipes, and is served with gnocchi instead of your standard pasta. It is cheesy, decadent, and delicious, and I know you’ll love it!
To make Bacon Gnocchi Mac and Cheese, you’ll need:
1 pound gnocchi
2 cups heavy cream
2 cloves garlic
1 1/4 cup shredded gruyere cheese
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Begin by cooking the bacon on medium heat until crispy. I had never made bacon before and had to call my grandma for help. You should have heard her laugh when I asked if the bacon was supposed to be making so much noise!
(Answer: it is!)
When the bacon is done, move it onto a paper towel-covered plate.
And chop it up into small pieces once it cools down. Set some of the bacon pieces aside for a garnish, and try not to eat them!
Next, move on to cooking the gnocchi. Now this is something I know how to do!
Drop the gnocchi into boiling water. It is ready when the gnocchi pops up to the surface, like this:
Drain the gnocchi and set aside.
Now chop up the chives and garlic into small pieces. Set some of the chives aside for a garnish.
Next, heat the cream, chives and garlic in a saucepan until the mixture is boiling slightly.
Slowly add the cheese a handful at a time, making sure that it’s melted before adding more.
Once all of the cheese is melted into the sauce, it’s time for the bacon!
Stir in the bacon, then add the gnocchi to the sauce and stir everything together. Serve the gnocchi while it’s piping hot, and garnish with the extra bacon and chives.
And yes, it tastes as good as it looks!
