Not only did my birthday week bring on the start of another year, it also brought a major moment in every woman’s life: my first pair of really nice heels.
Ready to treat myself, I headed off to shop for Louboutins with my stylist (aka Kendall). I wanted black ones so that they would be in style forever, but there were still so many to choose from! I selected four pairs and began trying them on.
Wondering why the soles are red?
“The shiny red color of the soles has no function other than to identify to the public that they are mine. I selected the color because it is engaging, flirtatious, memorable and the color of passion.” – Christian Louboutin
I can certainly get behind that!
After walking down the runway several times (and by that I mean pacing the floor of the store) I knew which pair I had to choose. These beauties:
As the philosopher Christian Louboutin said, “The woman carries the clothes, but the shoe carries the woman.” And I could see these shoes carrying me everywhere!
Wondering if they’re comfortable? Don’t ask Christian!
“I hate the whole concept of comfort! You’re abandoning a lot of ideas when you are too into comfort. ‘Comfy’ – that’s one of the worst words! I just picture a woman feeling bad, with a big bottle of alcohol, really puffy. It’s really depressing, but she likes her life because she has comfortable shoes.” – Christian Louboutin
Or the shorter, “I would hate for someone to look at my shoes and say, ‘Oh my God! That looks so comfortable!'” – Christian Louboutin
That being said, they really aren’t uncomfortable! Don’t tell Christian though!
I love Christian’s quotes on women, men and shoes.
“The core of my work is dedicated not to pleasing women but to pleasing men.”
“The stiletto is a female weapon that men just don’t have.”
And one that made me laugh:
“A naked woman in heels is a beautiful thing. A naked man in shoes looks like a fool.”
I am so in love with these shoes!
Want a pair of your own? I recommend either going directly to a Christian Louboutin store or Saks Fifth Avenue for the best selection. Want mine? Well you can’t have them! But you can have a pair just like them, here.
As Christian said, “Shoes are just a pedestal. What interests me is the power of the woman who wears them.”
And I definitely feel powerful.
