I have fabulous news: IT’S RESTAURANT WEEK!
…or at least it was last week when some of my Quadrille friends and I took a break from the workday to lunch at Harlow.
I love the interior at Harlow. One minute you’re standing outside on a bustling New York street during your lunch hour, and the next you’re transported into a dark, sexy cavern. Work? What work?
I arrived fully intending to order from the Restaurant Week menu. This was my first Restaurant Week in New York, after all. But then I saw it. Lobster Mac and Cheese. With truffles.
It tasted amazing, of course. And the best part was that it wasn’t too heavy. Usually with lobster mac and cheese even though it tastes good you leave feeling a little bit gross. But not at Harlow! Which means I can eat it every day, right?
The girls ordered off the Restaurant Week menu, and the Cream of Kabocha Squash was everyone’s favorite starter. It was a delicious soup with morcilla, crispy parsnips and scallion paprika oil.
For her main course, Ann chose the Stone Oven Chicken. According to the menu, this was Amish chicken, which gave me the best mental picture of a chicken wearing one of those hats! It came with root vegetables and chimichurri sauce, and it was a hit!
Pam picked the Salmon, which had chipotle corn, asian pear and cilantro salad with a miso reduction. She liked hers too, even though the salmon wasn’t Amish.
For dessert, we all shared the Panna Cotta.
It sounds fancy, but it’s basically a snow cone with rose water. Rose water isn’t to my taste. Or Ann’s for that matter, she asked “why does it taste like I’m eating makeup?!” But Pam and Bunny liked it, and it was fun trying something new!
Harlow is now one of my NYC favorites. You can’t beat the atmosphere, especially when you want to escape work for an hour (or two…) And that lobster mac and cheese! Mmmm….
Oh and I have good news! Harlow’s Restaurant Week menu was such a hit that they’re extending it through the summer. So go on, take a break from work… you’ll be glad you did.

Love the restaurant atmosphere and the food presentation. I will be adding this to my “New York List”.
Thank you for the recommendation!
You’re welcome! Have fun!
I didn’t know that it was Amish chicken-yummy!
Yes, how funny!
