Last week one of my colleagues came into the office commenting on how many attractive men she had seen during her walk to work. That led to a discussion among my female coworkers about how we had all noticed more beautiful men than usual walking the streets of New York. Then one of us realized why: they were male models in town for Fashion Week! THANK YOU FASHION WEEK!
Unfortunately, New York Fashion Week has now come to a close. Which means that the men are back to looking normal and all that we women have left is glamorous clothing. Which I suppose isn’t a terrible consolation prize!
For those of you unable to attend Fashion Week, I’ve narrowed down the important trends to give you everything you need to know for the fall/winter 2014 season. And just for fun I’ve made predictions on which gowns you will see on the Red Carpet at the Oscars!
Let’s start with color. Looking for a dress for your next white-tie ball? Gold was everywhere on the runway!
I LOVED this Badgley Mischka dress:
And I thought that the following also did gold well:
Venexiana:
Badgley Mischka:
Naeem Khan:
and Lela Rose:
Reem Acra added black and white to the gold and wowed with this dress:
Pattern was also an important element of Fashion Week. My favorites included Wendy Nichol:
Alice + Olivia:
Carolina Herrera:
Tory Burch:
and Vivienne Tam:
Monique Lhuillier impressed with her short, patterned lace dresses. I want every single one of these:
Zac Posen ordinarily stuns the audience with every creation, however this season I felt that some of his designs were too average. I did however like the unique cuts on the following:
Fur coats were everywhere, including BCBGMAXAZRIA:
Donna Karan:
and Ralph Lauren:
Not a fan of fur? Chose a cape for your next coat instead, as seen in Pamella Roland:
and Tadashi Shoji:
And now for my Red Carpet preditions! This J Mendel dress flowed so well and looked gorgeous. It is bound to make an appearance on a Hollywood Red Carpet!
This Badgley Mischka dress is incredible. Mark my words, you will see it worn to the Oscars!
Finally, this Monique Lhuillier design literally made me gasp when I saw it. It won’t be long before we see it on a celebrity! Taylor Swift perhaps?
Sigh. Why can’t every week be Fashion Week?
