Surprise, surprise, another blog post about my family eating! You would think based on the amount of restaurants we went to that they were here for a month!
We had been looking forward to eating at Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar. One because my dad’s awesome friend gave him a gift card and two because my mom loves any restaurant by a famous chef (oh heyyy Bobby!)
After a perilous journey through the heart of Times Square (tourists…) we arrived at a restaurant that was decorated with attitude.
We started our meal with the Guy-talian Nachos. I actually didn’t notice the name until I typed it here- that’s funny! These nachos feature Guy’s all-star meaty, cheesy nachos packed with sweet Italian turkey sausage, ground beef, pepperoni, piquante peppers, ricotta crema, cheese and fresh basil. It is fabulous comfort food, and was my favorite part of the meal!
For her meal, my mom ordered the Crispy Shrimp Po-Boy. This dish has lightly-seasoned and fried cornmeal-crusted shrimp dressed in true New Orleans style with Creole mayo, shredded cabbage, tomatoes and pickles. My how po-boys have come a long way!
My dad selected the Huli Huli Roasted Chicken for his dinner. This is Guy’s favorite Hawaiian chicken lacquered in a sweet Hawaiian BBQ sauce, and served with old school rice pilaf, mango confetti, crispy won ton strips and lime.
Josh and I wanted to continue the trend of ordering comfort food, so we both got the Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese Burger. Oh yes, you know how much I loved this dish in Boston! Guy’s version has crispy applewood-smoked bacon, creamy four cheese mac ‘n’ cheese, all natural ground beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, super-melty cheese and garlic butter on a toasted brioche. I’m not sure what “super-melty cheese” is, but I am a fan!
Oh hello lovely!
We had a great dinner with lots of laughing (and food!). It was a perfect night.
And I know what you’re thinking New Yorkers, but it is well worth braving Times Square in order to eat at Guy’s. You can do it!!
