One of the most important items on my Chicago family’s NYC to-do list was trying New York pizza. We absolutely LOVE Chicago deep dish pizza, and couldn’t wait to determine once and for all which city has better pizza.
We asked around, and headed to the most-recommended pizza place: Lombardi’s Pizza in Nolita.
We decided one of our pizzas should be a classic, and ordered the Original Margherita with fresh mozzarella and fresh-crushed tomato sauce, topped with romano and fresh basil.
It was delicious, and Josh taught me how to fold it in half and eat it like a New Yorker!
Because we couldn’t agree on our second pizza, we decided to order half and half.
The girls’ half was the White Pizza with fresh mozzarella, ricotta, romano, fresh garlic, oregano, black pepper and fresh basil. It. was. SO. good!
Just looking at those pictures makes me want it again!
Because you can also add toppings to the Original Margherita, the boys decided to include pancetta on their half.
The pizza at Lombardi’s is good, and its White Pizza is fabulous!
But I am a Chicago girl at heart, and deep dish is still my favorite pizza style. Although, I suppose I would be willing to do a few more taste tests, just to be sure…
