Christmas Eve at The Smith

When my family found out I wouldn’t be able to come home for Christmas, they immediately booked their flights to come to me. It’s the best Christmas gift I’ve ever gotten (although my brother likes to remind me that I got a dog once, ha!)

My family arrived on Christmas Eve, and after showing them around for a little bit we headed off to The Smith for dinner.

I went to The Smith on my first day in NYC, and ever since then I’ve been recommending it to friends and family. It has a cool atmosphere, and the food is excellent.

Not to mention its restroom sign is hilarious!

We sat down and the boys ordered The Smith Ale from Six Point Brewery in Brooklyn.

We were momentarily distracted from the menu when the bread arrived…

My dad chose Tuesday’s special, Short Ribs. It arrived on a bed of baked cherry tomatoes and potatoes, and he loved it!

My mom ordered the Grilled Shrimp with jalapeño grits, pilsner butter, and a green tomato salad. We all tried a bite, and then made sure to take a few more bites!

Josh got the Tagliatelle, which featured black pasta, sautéed shrimp, scallion, and crumbled garlic bread. Yes, garlic bread. Mmmm…

And I got the best dish of them all! The Ricotta Gnocchi is absolutely incredible, and is served with truffle cream. It arrived piping hot, and I kept burning my mouth because I was too impatient to let it cool. It was THAT good!

We also ordered a side of Creamed Kale, and it was fantastic. Plus, kale is one of the best foods you can put in your body, so it’s not just tasty but extremely nutritious too.

It was an excellent meal, and the perfect way to celebrate Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas from my family to yours!
