Even though I was born and raised in Southern California, it still amazes me to this day how beautiful the weather is all year round. This weekend was no exception, and yesterday I spent the day on Surfer’s Knoll Beach in Ventura.
Surfer’s Knoll Beach is located on Spinnaker Drive, across the street from the Ventura Harbor Village. This beach has amazing views of the coastline and the Channel Islands, and is a perfect spot for tanning and surfing. Swimming (unless you are an experienced surfer) is not recommended because of strong riptides, which is perfect because it keeps the crowds away.
At the far end of the beach, where the mouth of the Santa Clara River empties into the Pacific, you’ll find a natural bird estuary, teeming with pelicans and other bird species.
Look, I spotted a bird watcher!
If you keep walking past the bird sanctuary you’ll come to a sandbar, with the river to the left and the ocean to the right.
Just look at that view, not a cloud in the sky…
It couldn’t have been a more perfect November day. To find out more about Ventura Harbor Village and its beaches, click here.
