As many of you know, Ashley recently moved into the apartment right below me. It has been so much fun having her so close by! She has been slowly furnishing her apartment and enlisted my help to pick out a couch. Testing sofas can work up quite an appetite, so after we finished shopping we began our search for a place to eat. We were happy to discover that there was a Father’s Office around the corner from the furniture store in Culver City.
We grabbed a table and headed to the bar to place our order. To start we ordered a Basket of Sweet Potato Fries, which were sprinkled with roasted garlic and came with cabrales blue cheese aioli for dipping.
For our second starter we wanted to try something different, so we settled on the Salt Cod Brandade Fritters, with piquillo gastrique, pimenton aioli and olive oil. They tasted similar to fish ‘n’ chips. Definitely different!
For our entrée we ordered the Berbere Spiced Sonoma Lamb, which was a lamb skewer with pickled parisian cucumbers, mint, goat milk and yogurt. I’m normally not a lamb fan, but this lamb was so tender and cooked perfectly. We both really enjoyed it.
You can’t go to Father’s Office without ordering The Office Burger! The burger is topped with caramelized onion, applewood bacon, gruyere, maytag blue cheese and arugula.
With full stomachs (and a new couch for Ashley!) we headed home pondering the wise words of Humphrey Bogart, which were displayed on the wall next to the restaurant:
“The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind.”
Indeed they are Humphrey, indeed they are.
