Yoga is one of my favorite workouts. It’s part strength, part flexibility, and part laying on the floor. It reminds me a lot of dance, and I love that I can have a great workout and also leave feeling centered.
I was so excited when I found out that the Wanderlust Festival was coming to LA. Wanderlust Festivals take place across the world (the next one is in Whistler) and feature four days of outdoor yoga with live music in beautiful outdoor settings.
In order to get people excited for these festivals, they also host Yoga in the City events. These events offer free classes at interesting, more urban, locations. My friend Jennie and I went to the most recent event on the Santa Monica Pier.
It was such a neat experience doing yoga on the pier while overlooking the ocean below. I loved how many people came out to experience it!
The class itself was whimsical and fun, and the focus was more on enjoying the experience than perfecting your urdhva dhanurasana pose.
I enjoyed the fact that the class catered to all levels. Beginners were able to acquaint themselves with yoga, and the more advanced students were able to show off their moves!
Afterwards Jennie and I left feeling very zen.
