First Fridays

I love Fridays. Especially the first Friday of every month, when dozens of food trucks descend upon Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice. Shops and art galleries are open late, the bars are right next door, and there is plenty of good food to eat. It’s just an all around good time!

The food trucks serve everything: lobster, burgers, tacos, Indian food, Chinese food, Korean BBQ, pizza, dessert…Whatever you are in the mood for, I guarantee you will find it.

The hardest part of First Fridays is deciding which truck to eat at! It took all of my will power not to go straight for the Grilled Cheese Truck. But it was time to try something different.

Ashley was in the mood for hot dogs and I thought that that was a great idea. Introducing Dogtown Dogs…

We both ordered the Morning Commute Hot Dog, which is crispy hardwood smoked bacon wrapped around an all beef dog and topped with a fried egg. We also got some Cheese Tots, which are tater tots covered in melted nacho cheese. YUM! That’s all I have to say.

Who doesn’t like tater tots?!

After we finished our food we ran into a very special person…

Oh hey Richard Simmons! He kindly took a picture with us.

After our rendevous with Mr. Simmons, we strolled back to our cars as the sun was setting.

First Fridays starts around 5:30 p.m. and goes late into the night. Parking is tricky and it gets very crowded, but I think it’s worth all the fuss. Bring your appetite!

I can’t think of a better way to start the weekend.
