Bottega Louie

Last weekend I finally went to dinner at Bottega Louie, a restaurant in downtown LA that I’ve been meaning to try for a while. Bottega Louie is a restaurant, gourmet market, patisserie and bar, all rolled into one. It’s pretty much a one-stop shop!

I probably had the best seat in the house.

As soon as we sat down bread was put on our table. I loved the presentation!

Bottega Louie has a great selection of appetizers, or what they call ‘small plates.’ Recommended by our waitress, we started with the burrata and roasted vine tomatoes. They were light, delicious, and a lovely way to start the meal.

Our second small plate was the brussel sprouts with pistachios. I’m a huge brussel sprouts fan and these did not disappoint!

Our final small plate (yes, we ordered too much food) was the portobello fries. I’ve never had anything like these before! I could have just eaten these for dinner and been perfectly happy. They were unbelievable.

Once I stopped crying over the fact that the portobello fries were gone, it was time for the main courses. First up was the roasted cod, which came with mussels, cockles, potatoes, and leeks in a white wine au jus. It was beautifully presented and the shellfish were delicious. Sadly, I was disappointed with the cod, especially after how great the small plates had been.

Our second entrée was the hanger steak verdura, which was served with farmers market vegetables and black truffle sauce. Also beautiful to look at, it came out cold.

After the disappointing main courses, I needed some great dessert to cheer me up. I had heard that Bottega Louie has an awesome soufflé, so we ordered it a la mode (obviously). It was pretty fantastic and definitely made up for the lackluster entrées.

Heavenly…

While I was waiting for the soufflé to arrive I paid a visit to Bottega Louie’s patisserie, where I ordered one of everything (a girl can dream, right?!).

Bottega Louie is best known for their macaroons. You can’t go here without ordering a few!

Other than the entrées, I really enjoyed the food at Bottega Louie. Next time I come here I will stick with the small plates, which is probably a better idea since it leaves more room for their fabulous dessert!

Bottega Louie is located at 700 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90014. For more information, click here.
