Venice Beach Wines

Venice Beach Wines is my happy place. Great food, great wine, and great atmosphere, which makes it a perfect place for great conversation. I could go on for hours about how much I love this place. Therefore, I couldn’t think of a better spot for Ashley and I to go on her first night back in LA.

Venice Beach Wines, or VBW, is a small wine bar in Venice. We headed there as soon as I got off of work, just in time for happy hour and before it got crowded (and it gets really crowded).

VBW has a really great selection of wine and beer, all of which can be taken to-go.

After ordering the obligatory glass of wine (rosé for her, malbec for me), it was time to order food.

The food served at VBW ranges from lighter “nibbles” like cheese and crackers, olives, and almonds, to more substantial dishes like salads, pizzas, and sandwiches. The menu is unique and VBW offers choices that you won’t normally find at your average wine bar.

We started off with a Toscano Pizzette, which is a mini pizza filled with prosciutto, goat cheese, arugula, a soft cooked egg, and parmigiano reggiano.

Next up was the Lambwich, a pressed sandwich with curry rubbed rotisserie lamb, manchego, mint pesto, tomato, and onion jam, served with salad and potato chips.

Just take a look at this sandwich!

We ended our meal with the most amazing thing ever put on this earth. I’m not kidding. It’s called the Fromage a Trois, which is a ‘melty hot pot’ filled with fontina, gouda, and parmigiano reggiano cheeses and white truffle oil. It’s served with a warm baguette for dipping.

When our server brought out our cheesy pot and saw me taking pictures of all the food, he immediately took it back to the kitchen because “the bread needed a garnish.” So just ignore the huge tree-like thing in the bread.

Your life will never be the same.

I wish you could smell this through your computer.

Venice Beach Wines is located at 529 Rose Avenue in Venice. Happy hour is Monday-Friday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information on their menu and hours, click here.

I hope you love this place as much as I do!
