This past weekend my friend Jana and I escaped to Lake Arrowhead for a much needed girls’ weekend. The drive was quick and easy from Jana’s house, only taking us about an hour.
Once we arrived, we dropped off our bags and headed straight to the snow!
We decided to go sledding at Snow Valley Mountain Resort in the nearby town of Running Springs. It was a beautiful and warm day, perfect for being in the snow. We paid $31 for a full day of “Snow Play,” and it was well worth it since we stayed until closing.
This was my first time on a ski lift (crazy, right?!) It was kind of scary!
Sleds in hand, we were ready to go!
We may or may not have been the oldest people (without children) sledding, but we didn’t let that stop us.
Staying in control was definitely easier said than done! After a few hours of sledding, it was time to play in the snow.
Tired, wet and hungry, we finally called it a day and headed back to the village to pick up a pizza. The rest of the night we spent catching up, drinking wine and watching movies.
The next morning, we went to Belgian Waffle Works, a great breakfast spot right on the lake.
Jana ordered the Brussels Belgian Waffle, which was prepared Monte Cristo style stuffed with ham, Swiss cheese and turkey, and served with strawberry preserves and cream cheese on the side. Sounds like a questionable combo at first, but it was surprisingly good all together! Anyone who hasn’t tried strawberries and cream cheese together must do so immediately!
I got the Benedict Belgian, which was a waffle topped with Canadian bacon, poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and black olives. It was good but I liked Jana’s choice better.
After breakfast we walked around the lake and did some shopping in the village.
With our stomachs full and our wallets a little lighter, it was time to head home and back to reality. All in all, it was a perfect weekend!
